City Clerk Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and distribute agendas for City Council and Board of Works meetings
  • Retain custody of official records and books of the City
  • Advertise legal notices and job openings
  • Secretary to the Common Council and Board of Works
  • Financial Office of the City
    • Prepare Budget
    • Prepare annual financial report
    • Bank Reconciliation’s
    • Receipt monies for all funds of the City
    • Preparation and payment of claims
    • Prepare and distribute payroll
    • Taxes, W-2’s
    • Maintain fixed assets
    • Invest City and Bluffton Utility money
    • Signing checks for City and Bluffton Utilities
    • Prepare invoices
  • Human Resource Office
    • Take applications when there are job openings
    • Maintain Employee Service Records
    • Prepare salary Ordinances
    • Manage Employee Benefits
  • Audited yearly by the State Board of Accounts
  • Manage Sidewalk Program
