Have questions about Plein Air?

Plein Air is a French expression for ‘in the open air’. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color and movement into their works. This means that artists grabbed their impression of everyday life or scenery in the changing weather and light. Hence the term Impressionism. You may be familiar with the artists Van Gogh, Cezanne, Renoir & Monet who were well known for their Impressionism and outdoor landscapes. A variety of mediums can be used depending on the weather and lighting. Oil, Pastel, sketch and watercolor are the most likely mediums you will see used to create these pieces.

We would love to showcase local talent. If there is interest in using prints of your artwork for Bluffton postcards please message to let us know!

Parlor City Market will be open from 9 a.m.-1p.m. Grab a bite, a drink or a sweet treat at one or many of the Downtown pubs, bakeries, and eateries and see the growth happening in our community! Artist is responsible for easel, supplies, and necessary materials. We are happy to provide suggestions or answer any questions regarding your time in Downtown Bluffton.
