Over the course of the academic year, senior civil engineering students Brendan Downey, Julia McGuire, and Kenton Pardue have conducted a full-scope design of a proposed extension of the River Greenway trail to the Old Bluffton Cemetery. The extension includes a connection to the Interurban Trail, and then follows Water and Marion Streets until it crosses the Wabash Central Railroad. Past the railroad, an elevated boardwalk will provide an accessible route across the floodplain, where the trail reaches a proposed trailhead, and terminates at Hale Street and, ultimately, the Old Bluffton Cemetery. The design also includes two observation platforms along Marion Street overlooking the Wabash River and a kayak launch point on the Wabash River near the trailhead location.
