[ARCHIVED] Utility Billing - Paper Bill Delays and Updates

To Our Utility Customers,

It has come to our attention that the Bluffton Utility bills for a portion of our service area were not delivered in the month of December, and that the subsequent bill for the same area has been delayed. The Utility Office has been working tirelessly to identify the technical/software complications that led to these errors and the customers affected by it. Please know that the problems have been addressed, additional steps will be taken in the office to avoid a recurrence, and updated print bills should be arriving for these customers this week. The bills will arrive in standard envelopes going forward, as the blue postcards have been retired.

Customers affected by this mailing error are those whose accounts begin with the following: 15-, 16-, 17-, 18-, 19-, 21-, and 22-. Customers who had previously chosen to receive paperless billing were unaffected.

No late payment penalties will be assessed, and no customers will be turned off for nonpayment due to these mailing errors.

Bluffton Utilities highly encourages customers to provide a valid email address to the utility office, which will allow electronic (PDF) bills to be sent to customers as soon as a new bill is generated. If you wish to receive paperless bills, please call the office at 260-824-2500 or send an email to utilities@blufftonindiana.gov with your name and service address or account number.

For customers who wish to view current and past bills, as well as historic utility usage and past payments, the Utility Office encourages customers to create an account on the new online utility billing site. The site changed in October of 2025, and does require a new online registration. Links to the new site and instructions for online account setup can be found on the Customer Utility Office page's FAQ section.

We appreciate your patience and support as we work to get the utility bill mailing schedule back on track.

Sincerely,

Bluffton Utilities
