Snow Removal

Snow Plow Routes

The Bluffton Street department is responsible for snow removal on city-owned streets. State-owned streets, such as State Road 1 (aka Main Street), State Road 124, and State Road 116, are plowed by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).

Bluffton's street plowing routes are divided into four sections, with crews working each at the same time: Downtown, North, South & East, and West. (See the available Bluffton Snow Plow Routes interactive map for a breakdown of each route.)

Once the main routes have been cleared and treated, the street crews move onto secondary roads (residential streets) and provide the same treatment to them. Vehicles parked along the roadway should be moved if possible, to allow street crews maximum room for proper street snow removal.

Alley Snow Removal

Alleys are cleared at the end of a snow event when there is more than four inches of snowfall. The Street Department receives assistance from the Utility Departments in clearing alleys, as most of their plow trucks are too big for the majority of Bluffton's alleys.
